Accuracy and how to report it

My client is asking me about the accuracy of points within the models we are making.

The models are awesome (thanks CR!) and we have georeferenced them using GCP’s with RTK GPS and I have the accuracy of this data recorded.

How do I tell them the accuracy of a point within the model itself or what is the standard when communicating this information?

With the new RC there is a report for Georeferening and I have attached it here:

Hello Chris,

to tell the accuracy of a point just look at the table Control points. In the columns X, Y, Z you can see the coordinates of points the way they were imported into RealityCapture. In the columns Cal. X, Cal. Y, Cal. Z you can see calculated coordinates, or coordinates after the alignment. Differences between imported and calculated coordinates are found in the last 3 columns: dX, dY, dZ.

To calculate accuracy of a single point you can use equation (1).

To calulate accuracy of all points together, you can use equation (2).

These are the deviations defining the points’ placement on the model, not the overall accuracy of those points, but it should be sufficient to determine how accurate those points were placed onto a model.

Hi Matej,

Thanks so much, that’s really helpful
