Accessibility for motor disabilities

Hey everyone,

I struggle with my ability to move my body at times, but my mind works just fine. and speaking out loud can be helpful if I can.

I have a macbook pro m1 and have been learning about some really cool accessibility features that it has. the most useful being voice control. It allows for facial expressions to control your computer and you can speak to move the mouse and click and all that. I know that it is new and is still being developed, but in combination with shortcuts and automation scripts I was able to get blender to create basic (a bit simple and childlike) 3d models. When I tried to use this feature in unreal engine, the editor has a lot of issues. Nothing can be clicked and the right click menu just disappears right after showing up. Has anyone come across this? also does anyone know how I could fix it even just temporarily?

This is specific to the mac M1 that integrates motor accessibility via voice control. I saw windows users struggle with something similar and they changed windows always on top settings, but mac doesn’t have that, at least I couldn’t find a similar setting that fixed the issue.

I’m not expecting to be able to make an entire game in unreal with just moving my mouth (yet :slightly_smiling_face: ) It’s just such an awesome idea to keep learning while I’m stuck for some time. Instead of just thinking about things.

Just an update on this for anyone curious.

On macOS 14.1.1 and unreal engine 5.3.2 the right click menu can now be controlled with voice control. I think this may have been the Mac update that fix this.

Menus, navigation and search fields are still not very accessible so you will need to write your own custom tools, but at least it’s doable now.
