Access legacy Megascans on Bridge and Quixel.com

Update on 11/28:

You can now claim the entire legacy Megascans library with just one click! To get started, head over to Quixel Megascans library or get the latest version of Bridge, and then click “Claim Now” in the banner that appears, to start the process.

Important: While the ability to claim legacy assets on Bridge and Quixel.com ends December 31, 2024, you will still be able to continue using any assets that you may have claimed and continue using Bridge and Quixel.com after that date.

Known Issues on 11/28:

  • When you click “Claim Now,” there may be a mismatch between the asset count in Purchased and Home tabs. This is due to a few assets being temporarily unavailable due to errors. These assets will be restored in a few days and automatically added to your Purchased tab.
  • In Bridge for UE5 plugin, claimed assets do not show in the Acquired tab. We hope to resolve this issue soon but in the meantime you can view your claimed assets in the Purchased tab on Quixel.com and Bridge desktop app.

We’ve reactivated the ability to acquire legacy Megascans in Bridge and on Quixel.com, and next week we’re releasing an easy way for you to claim the entire library with one click. Anything that you claim from now until December 31, 2024 you can use immediately and continue to use after January 1, 2025. The legacy library of over 18,000 assets includes everything that you know and love from Quixel prior to Fab’s launch – there’s nothing new, nothing has been removed, and nothing is being updated.

Claimed assets are available under the Epic Content License and will appear in the Purchases tab of your profile but will not be automatically downloaded.

What are the limitations?

Please note that you must be logged in to your account and subscribed to an Unreal Engine or Indie Quixel plan in order to claim free Megascans on Quixel.com and Bridge. If you’re on a different plan and have accepted the Epic Content License, we’ll move you to the Indie plan automatically. To switch from the Unreal Engine plan to the Indie plan, we recommend creating a new account since the Indie plan does not allow access through the Bridge plugin in UE. If you still want to switch, contact Support.

This offer is not available to those on Studio or Educational licenses. For those of you with a custom Studio license or Educational license, your access to Quixel tools and services will continue per your agreement with us.

What happens after Dec 31, 2024?

You will still have access to past acquisitions (including those assets that you may have claimed for free) via Bridge and Quixel.com. These tools will continue to function into 2025 but you won’t be able to find and acquire “new” things from the legacy Megascans library after December 31, 2024.

If you wish to acquire new and updated Megascans, you can find them on Fab. From now through the end of the year, you can claim the Fab Megascans library for free under the Fab Standard License. Starting in 2025, Megascans will be available for purchase on Fab, though we will still offer some assets for free.

What is the difference between Claim All on Fab, and Claim All on Quixel.com and Bridge?

Claiming all the free Megascans on Quixel.com or Bridge gives you access to the legacy Megascans library under the Epic Content License. This is the library that existed prior to Fab; it will not receive updates and no new assets will be added to this asset library.

Claiming all the free Megascans on Fab gives you access to an updated and improved catalog of Megascans under the Fab Standard License. The Fab Megascans library excludes some assets that no longer meet Quixel’s quality standards and includes some new assets that were released when Fab launched. These assets will continue to receive updates after the end of the year and if you have claimed them, you will be able to access any updated asset files.

Will the assets that I claim on Quixel appear in My Library on Fab?

In January 2025, upgraded versions of legacy Megascans assets claimed from Bridge or Quixel.com from November 22, 2024 to December 31, 2024 will be available in My Library on Fab.

However, a small number of assets (544 in total) from the legacy Megascans library are deprecated as they do not meet our quality standards. These assets will not be available in your Fab My Library. We will make these assets available for download soon in .zip and .tar.gz formats.

Will Fab have a desktop app like Bridge?

Yes. We’re currently working with the Fab team to ensure that all creators have easy ways to discover, download, and use digital content. In 2025, the integrations with UE and UEFN will see additional improvements. The team is planning to also introduce new integrations with tools outside of the Epic ecosystem as well as a public API in the future.

When Fab offers a comprehensive alternative to Bridge, we will discontinue Bridge and Quixel.com. When those tools are discontinued, you will no longer be able to use them to access or download the Megascans that you have licensed. Please refer to the question just above this one for more information on accessing those assets through Fab.

Can I also download Megascans through the online library in Mixer?

Yes, you can download Megascans through the online library in Mixer until December 31, 2024.
