About using asset Unreal Engine but in another software.

Hi Unreal Engine, can if I use Quixel Brigde asset, not in Unreal Engine but blender? Thank you.

Yes, you can!

  1. Change your export target on Quixel Bridge Settings (Sorry, i don’t know if this option is already avaiable)
  2. Send your asset to Unreal Engine and Export it as .FBX file. : )

“Can” as in “it is physically possible,” yes.
But doing so with the access you get through Unreal Engine, would probably breach the licensing agremeent.
Copyright matters. Be careful about advice around the area of using Epic assets outside Unreal!

That depends on your goal, which falls on two things, general licensing and the project’s purpose.

If your project is personal and non-commercial, then;
1- If you would like to modify the asset in Blender and then bring it back to Unreal Engine, that is fine, and you can.
2- If you want to use those assets in Blender, maybe to make the animations, simulations, etc. Bringing them back to your project in the engine afterwards is fine.
3- It would be professional to give credits at the end of your project for Unreal Engine, Quixel suite as a professional curtasy.

If your project is commercial and you want to follow the steps above, definitely, you need to check with your legal team for every aspect.

And lastly, If you just want to use Megascans assets in Blender only and outside of Unreal Engine, It is fine as long as you subscribe to Quixel’s subscription plan and read the terms and conditions, but if you want to export them from Unreal Engine only and use it outside, that breaches the user agreement contract and you must be careful which is illegal and it has consequences.

Oh man!!! :sob::sob::sob: My GPU still doesn’t support Unreal Engine and because the problem of my family’s economy and I can’t upgrade my GPU until now, it’s so expensive for me. I can only use Blender and Substance Painter ( I’m still 14 student ), but for more than a year I use Quixel Megascan and UE Assets often, but I always with given a credits, But apparently it’s not possible???
What should I do? Some renders that used Quixel Megascan but don’t render on the Unreal Engine are already popular and have never had a problem before, but after I seeing some of this topics, this it makes me so sad… :pensive:
