about UE4 license

Hi
first sorry for my bad english , and also sorry if this not the right place to post this thread :o

i have good experience with QtC++ … iv never worked with an game engine before … but when i tried UE4 i found it little bit easy and so fun to work with .
my brother has a good experience with UDK and UE4 so i decided to work with him for his project

so , my question is : can i use the engine to work with my brother’s project ? or i need to buy another one for me ?

and anther question … if i buy the engine for 19$/month then i cancel the subscription … can i publish the game for free without paying the 5% ? because i want to make a simple game and publish it completely for free … it does not have any in game purshase or ads , can i do it ?

and the last question is similar  , can i make free open sources games for Linux or Windows without paying the 5% ?

and again im sorry for my bad english , and thanks for any help

Welcome in the community!

As long as you dont make over 3000$ with your game you dont have to pay the 5% https://answers.unrealengine/questions/15056/need-some-clarification-on-the-5-royalty.html

Normally the licence is per seat, so he would have to buy his own one: e.g https://answers.unrealengine/questions/14058/can-multiple-users-use-ue4.html

Hi C_CODE,

Welcome to using UE4!

has provided you the correct information.

  • If two people are using UE4, then you need to purchase two subscriptions. Each subscription is only good for one person.
  • If you release a game for free, then you do not owe any royalty. (5% of 0 is still 0)

Enjoy the Unreal Engine!

(and I am moving this post to the General Discussion section, because it it not off-topic.)

thats really great  thanks
