Hi Epic,
Don’t you have some kind of a vetting process when making UX/UI changes to your software?
Firstly, in the latest Launcher, you needlessly made the login window bigger, just so that the background could be include. Seriously? (I really need a huge window to host a few small dialogues for a username, password and a submit button)
Once you log-in, you are welcomed by a generally smaller, tighter UI, with a changed main font, smaller icons, and the worst of all smaller text. You-got-to-be-kidding-me! Even the Launch button has changed and became smaller.
Isn’t Launcher supposed to be running Slate? Everything should then scale as you change the window size, not just the main window’s hero/title images? (which are just responsive through CSS anyway it seems)
Settings of course do not have anything allowing you to change things back to what they used to be, or make anything more accessible. Aren’t you mandated to make accessible content by law? (companies up here in Canada are so the same must hold for U.S.).
Someone will try to rationalize that the Launcher is not required to be accessible, but I beg to differ because the Launcher is just an over-glorified web page running a web browser, thus falling under your ADA.
I’m not sure what is going on over there, but over the course of the years I’ve noted a decline in consideration for UX/UI (among other things) whereas items are added/altered haphazardly.
A congestion of sometimes useless icons on the screen, flashing and popping dialogues that won’t easily go away, and generally packed nature of the interface. Are you trying to compete with Autodesk Maya or Max maybe, as that’s a real abomination when it comes to interface experience?
This couldn’t possibly be just my “pet peeves”, so perhaps others might have something to add to the above.
Thanks for your attention.
