Previously I had a problem with noise in texture baking, which I have not been able to solve. But today I found the source of the problem - the model faces exported from the software were not smooth. I imported the model into Blender, did some mesh smoothing, then re-baked the texture and found the problem solved. However, the model I imported has 40M triangles and it takes a lot of time to do the mesh smoothing. Therefore, I would like to ask the technician if he can solve this problem on the software side, so that I don’t need to do the long mesh smoothing operation manually.
Hi @PBRPX
There is a smooth tool inside RealityCapture: RealityCapture Help
Hi @OndrejTrhan
I have tested this command before, but it did not solve the noise issue.
Generally, 40M tris model is quite big for Blender.
Can you also show just mesh without texture?
What were your used settings for the smoothing tool?
Yes, even though the model has a high number of faces, I can open it in Blender without any issues. Then, I can right-click on it, smooth the shading, and export it. The settings for the smooth tool in the software are shown in the image.
NO Shade Smooth
Shade Smooth
I suppose you should use higher smoothing weight, not lower as pre-defined settings.
Also, you can use to set strong smoothing type and more iterations than 5.
I have conducted the tests, and the model details are visually reduced, but the results still have noise.
Would it be possible to share your data with us?
The project file and folder, the original mesh and smoothed mesh?
