Im new to UE5 and currently trying to make a game myself. Just wanted to ask when y’all are making game’s building, do y’all find 3d model from online then import to UE5 or just make out the 3d model youself? If making yourself, what tools do you use? I feel like making all the building is the most time consuming task.
Yes you’re right about that the most time consuming part of any project would be making the models and animations, even if the game’s algorithms are advanced and the graphics are not impressive! To save some time, you can find free or paid assets from many platforms online, but if you want to be original, you would need to use a 3D editor such as Blender or Maya.
Yea, wanted to buy some paid asset but some prices is over my budget. Actually crying on putting each wall and floor to make it looks like a mall
Proper architecture can be a real pain.
But well… its work right?
Use Blender for most things.
Because you need to create proper UVs, proper Lightmaps, etc.
Use Houdini when possible - so numerical driven stuff usually.
Use Fusion360 to get the best possible simple model to then refine/add to in Blender (or houdini?).
It’s just a lot easier to use Fusion360 to make something like a house, or a building.
Mostly because it is meant to create fabrication/production things, so cutting holes, adding fillets, generating a moulding that aligns with the whole wall of a room, etc. Become extremely easy tasks when compared to say Blender.
Now when you do stuff like this, then Blender is king.
