About disastrously low precision of vertex normals

I remember some tutorials on youtube dedicated to cars and the nice reflections, and in the tutorial it was mentioned that unless we flip some setting in preferences, the reflections will be distorted because of the imperfect normals, or soemthing like that. Doesn’t that mean there is a solution ? Or at least one that improves the current bad quality.
I can’t imagine a better example to showcase this than high poly smooth nice reflective cars.
