Ability to remove the viewport camera slide when navigating within the viewport

The viewport camera continues to move in the direction you last moved, even after releasing the direction keys.

For example, if I hold the right mouse button while holding the W key to move forward and then let go, the camera will still continue to move forward, slightly.

Can we have a way to disable this or a parameter to control the amount of camera slide or slow stop speed?

I often need to zoom in on something in the editor to take a closer look, and it can become very frustrating when the viewport camera doesn’t stop when I release my fingers from the keys.

Try using F to zoom instead. Just select the object, and click F.

This setting is the likely culprit, it’s located in Project Settings > Engine > General Settings :
