Abandoned asylum

I was wondering what would be the best way to get the gravel and grime on the floors that you see in this picture.


I was thinking of making 4 or 5 random piles of rumble as static meshes and using the foliage tool to place them around the halls in my level but if anyone has any insight on how this could be done better I would really appreciate some tips. Thank you!

If it was me the base grime of the floor would just be a texture floor, things like Paper, concrete crumble, moss/grass would all be foliage mesh and then your larger objects like plants, pipes etc would be manually scattered with PhysX. That seem’s the easiest way to me, but I’m a noob lol, just an idea.

some of them can be layered on decals, some could be normal map distortions. Really you want a mix of all things

Do you know a way to do this in Unreal, or are you referring to physx painter?
