Hey there @Qu4ntumZero,

Welcome to the Unreal Engine Community!

For this to be one of your first Unreal projects it’s crazily impressive. Not just the cinematography and beautiful lighting, but the storytelling and audio you’ve put into this production. It’s so incredibly well done!

Hope to see more of your art floating around the forums soon. Thanks for sharing

Greetings @Qu4ntumZero !

Wow! Magnificent job with the asset choice! They all merge cohesively in support of the story.

Here we are, in a dark, abandoned environment where things go bump and growl in the night. We are introduced to a form of tech on a reconnaissance mission. What is it searching for? What is its mission? One phrase and one phrase only comes to mind, “Abandon all hope ye who enter here.”

I am bewildered by your work, including the intensity of the soundtrack, the flawless lighting, the sound effects, the smoothness and purposefulness of your camera work, and your method of storytelling! I wholeheartedly agree with our @PresumptivePanda !

Did you create a storyboard prior to creating the cinematic? How did you formulate the idea for Abandon?

Whoa, the incredibly kind reception from the community is very motivating, thank you so much @Get_DOVAH_it I’m so glad you enjoyed it!

The idea for this was really born from the assets themselves. I spent some time combing through what was available for free, opening environment packs and piloting around the scenes with the cinematic camera as I was getting a feel for the editor. Between the restriction of assets and a very minimal grasp on the engine, the idea sprung from there!

No prior storyboard since I was able to block out shots so quickly in real time. It all came together on the fly as I had a blast basically brute forcing my way through it.
