ABANDON - Animated Short #2 | Unreal Engine 5

Continuing to build new skills in Unreal Engine! I learned a ton about building an environment, foliage, and how to render a photorealistic result. With what I’ve learned so far, here is the second trailer for my animated short ABANDON.

This scene idea spawned from a tutorial by Clinton Jones (pwnisher) then made in sequencer using entirely free assets. Links to everything I used below if you would like a try yourself!

Hey there @Qu4ntumZero,

Hope you’re doing well and having a great week so far!

This video is nothing like I expected. I thought there would be a mine entrance or maybe an old cave system - but I could have never foreseen the thriller/horror scene that popped up. Beyond the initial story shock, it’s the high-quality foliage and materials used in the beginning part of the scene that (happily!) surprised me the most!

Great work and thanks for sharing your art with us here on the Unreal Engine forums. Happy developing!

Thank you @PresumptivePanda I got some upgraded hardware this week and it made a massive difference in letting me take advantage of Nanite and Lumen. I’m so impressed with the power of those systems and the speed they let me build at. Hoping to join the challenge this month and see what I can learn next!
