A required platform SDK is missing: IOS

Hi there, not sure if this is a bug or not, but this is following up on my post here A required platform SDK is missing: IOS - XR Development - Epic Developer Community Forums

where I was trying to get my iPhone recognised by UE4 on my iMac but it wasn’t working (ie I was getting the “A required platform SDK is missing: IOS” message) even though I had the correct Apple details and necessary files installed.

I know Cardboard isn’t supported for the iMac on UE4 yet but it would good to get my phone recognised so I could try other options, ie an app etc.

TwistedPancreas,

What version of iTunes are you on? Make sure you’re on the newest version of iTunes. You could also try uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes to know you’re working with clean files.

Looking forward to hearing back from you, thanks!

Thanks for getting back to me ,

I’ve got the latest version of iTunes and iOS on my phone but not sure I really want to reinstall iTunes.

ie should i just delete the iTunes app or do i need to delete all it’s preferences etc?

You’d have to go into Control Panel > Programs > Uninstall a Program > iTunes. Then you’d want to reinstall iTunes and restart your computer once it’s fully updated.

I’m thinking that it might be due to how your computer is set up since it’s a computer at your University.

Thanks!

Sorry im on a mac, and I’m getting “iTunes.app can’t be modified or deleted because it’s required by OS X.”

Sorry about that, that was an overlook on my part.

Since you’re receiving that error, you can launch the terminal from the Utilities folder within Applications and type: cd /Applications/ and that will bring you into the directory for the Applications on your iMac, next you’ll want to delete iTunes: sudo rm -rf iTunes.app/ and then enter the password to confirm the uninstallation.

Then you can easily reinstall it by going [here][1].

I hope that helps, thanks!

iTunes - Apple

Ok , so I uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes and have UE4.13.0 (Preview2) but still getting same issue. :frowning:

I spoke with our QA department and they’ve verified that it’s a device specific issue in the plist generated. It’s not resolved yet for 4.13.0 Preview 2, but it should be fixed in the next update.

Ok thanks ,

so it’s a Apple device specific issue, or a all mobile device issue?

so maybe Preview 3 check it out?

You’re welcome, it’s an Apple specific issue because it’s relating back to iOS. Check out Preview 3.

Just tried Preview 3 and I’m still getting the same issue :frowning:

Thank you for testing Preview 3 out for me. We’re continuing to look into this and hope to have a resolution for you soon.
