is it OK to have a distance from the floor to the character?
Hey @Atom_Thunder! It depends how your character is set up really, if you’re using IKs and fancy foot placement then this is likely not ok, if your character’s capsule is smaller than they are by that like 2 units, then it really isn’t a problem. However at the end of the day it’s still best to make sure the animations line up cleanly once attached to your character.
The character from mixamo in maya stands on the ground, but in unreal engine 5 he flies.
I don’t use fancy foot placement yet, but I want to.

As they comment above, it depends on if that causes you problems.
If you are not sure if that should be the point of origin of the animation, or if it is indeed causing you problems I recommend you activate this option in the Animation Screen:
Enable Root Motion
This will fix some problems of animations trying to keep the character without translation.
Now, while taking this screenshot, I noticed that the Mannequin in Unreal’s default “Third Person Camera” scene is also slightly floating.
