A quick question about "Build"

Hi

I’ve just started out in UE4. I was just wandering if when you click on any of the “build” features (as in the dropdown menu between cinematics and play) whether or not this creates and saves a file on your hard drive (like Unity’s light map data files). If it does, where is this saved?

The reason I’m asking is because I’m familiarizing myself with the UI by messing around on some draft blank templates and deleting them after (not not accumulate unwanted files on my desktop). I’m also watching tutorials and checking the documentation which is great - I just wasn’t able to find an answer to this specific question.

Thanks

There is an auto-save feature that acts as a backup, but otherwise, no, build does not save the map.
You have to specifically tell the editor to save it via the menu, shortcut or when trying to exist/load another map.

Hi

Thank you for your response. So would I be right in assuming that the autosave overwrites itself with each save?

Thanks again
