A Few Marketplace Questions

1.) This one is just for clarification. For the “Blueprints” section of the Marketplace, can we have a system implemented primarily through C++ as long as it can be interacted with through blueprints? To use an example, let’s say you had an inventory system. Can it be implemented through C++ primarily as long as it provides access to functionality through Blueprints? Maybe a Blueprint node that provides access to “AddItem” or whatever else.

2.) How frequently can a Marketplace submission be updated with additional content/functionality? What is the update process like? To continue using the Inventory system mentioned earlier, let’s assume that some users provided feedback that the “SortInventory” option was nice, but they wanted additional functionality attached to the “SortInventory” feature. Am I able to update the system with additional functionality like that on a regular basis? Does the update need to go through the approval process once more?

Sorry for the weird questions. I previously worked on games on Microsoft’s Indie Game Marketplace on the 360, and the update process was a bit of a headache to work with.

Thanks very much in advance!

Hi,

  1. no, its currently not possible to submit any code (source and/or compiler) to the marketplace. Epic is still working on the whole process for having code and plugins there.

  2. Yes, you can regularly submit updates to your package, though the update will have to go through an internal review first. Right now the process for an update can take anywhere from 1 day to 3 weeks, depending on the urgency and the workload on Epic side. They are still trying to get more resources to the job, but that may take a while.

Cheers,
