A couple of beginner issues, please

Hi, I am very new to Reality Capture, and as expected as a new user, I am having an issue

Firstly, when I align my images, the program focuses on two or three images and then completely ignores the rest, resulting in the final result being basically a 3D photo etc, seemingly focusing on the first images… Is there a reason why this is happening?

Secondly, when I click group images, it doesn’t seem to do anything and the group number in the settings remains as -1. Why is that?

Many thanks

Hello,

RealityCapture does not focus more on the first image. When alignment is being created, every image is being checked for features which could be used as tie points to connect various images together. If there is not enough recognizable features, overlap is sufficient and/or object or its background is changing, then it won’t be able to connect. This can also result into having multiple components which are made of just few images, because there is not enough information to connect them to other images. Please check your 1Ds view (left panel) to see if there weren’t created multiple components.

It is hard to tell what is causing this issue without seeing your images, or at least knowing something about your setup.

Regarding the image grouping. This is used when in the project can be found images from multiple sources (e.g. 3 sets of images, and every with a different focal length). So to make it short, grouping is done only if images have different EXIF data.

I have in the end come to the conclusion it was my footage that was the problem, it was heavily motion blurred
