7900xtx or 4090?

Now that price are somewhat coming down on GPU’s will I be ok with my 7900xtx card or should I just get a 4090? Will I really be able to notice a differnce? I have an OC Sapphire Nitro plus card I see soooooo many saying AMD is no where as good and sooooooo many saying that Im ok? Im very very confused at this point? I purchsed this card due to Unreal Engine working with AMD. I really don’t see ray tracing as most people do but it seems like most are saying if your not using Nvidia cards you are not getting the fastest and best results? Can someone please tell me how it is? Im just started with this and am starting to feel like I’ve made a mistake? I love my 7900xtx so far but have not really dove into using it on the level to really get serious. Any advice would really be appreciated. Thanks

Hello,

Ray Tracing ( NVIDIA RTX Feature) is not the big thing, Lumens and Nanite are.
You can see many youtubers showing the RTX4090, but this one was provided by Nvidia, they never pay for that , If you watch the last video of Metahuman Animator, they use a solution 100% AMD So for your question here is my response

  • If you do animation, movie, simulation go for AMD
  • If you want to create a game or nothing to do with video creation, go for Nvidia .

Thank you very much! AMD it is!!

Did you get the 7900XTX? If you did can you see if ray-tracing works without any weirdness happening. I’m currently using a 6800XT and a 6700s laptop. Both devices are having issues in UE 5.1 and 5.2 preview. When ray-tracing is enabled in the project, i get glowing sparkles everywhere…object and material previews in the content browser are all blown out and glowing 1000%. I don’t want to upgrade to 4090 but would rather a 7900XTX if it works properly. thanks.

Hello

I have a RX 6800 and I had the same issue ,the problem was :

  • I do not Enable the Ray-tracing when I create a project and i enable this in the Project Settings
  • With the last driver, when I install the previus driver, I do not have the problem ( 23.2.1 release 23/02/2023 )
