I see some users have UE5.8 it is not avaiable in my launcher how do I download?
Perhaps you need to update the launcher.
I agree, check if there are any available updates for the launcher. Testing on my end, the install seems to be working as intended:
If there are no updates, then I would test a quick reinstall. Then, if 5.8 still won’t show up, then something is affecting your system, could be a faulty registry value. To clear that up, you need a full uninstall/reinstall of all Epic software from your setup:
- First, uninstall the engine, launcher, any asset packs, etc
- Next, open the registry directory HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Epic Games\Unreal Engine\Builds, and delete any build entries
- Finally, delete the folders %userprofile%\AppData\Local\UnrealEngine and %userprofile%\AppData\Local\UnrealHeaderTool
- After that, no elements related to UE should be left in your system
- Now, reinstall UE launcher from scratch, and only add UE 5.8
- After the install is complete, test opening a blank project in 5.8, to ensure everything works
