[5.7.1] [BUG] Child SMesh Element Corrupted

How to reproduce
Create a character child with a SMesh and perhaps more than 1 Material.
It is not exactly clear how to reproduce, perhaps only happens with UE5 or MetaHuman.
We use the base character model from this package Modular Bard - Metahuman - Male/Female | Fab However, this happens with other meshes too, is not related to the cited mesh.

The parent mesh has no mesh, or UE4 or UE5 assigned - but likely not relevant.

Now hide all SMeshes in the child, it still shows parts (even when it shouldn’t), and the wrong one, as you can see in this video https://playepica.com/2025-12-28%2015-16-51.mp4 Even though not all material elements are properly setup in this example, the conclusion remains.

What else, sometimes parts of the material elements are properly displayed, which suggests that it is perhaps connected to a timing or loading.

  • This is an issue since at least 5.5.
  • It perhaps only affects Material Element 0
  • Someone else was able to reproduce this bug.
  • Restarting the editor did not fix this
  • Changing the base mesh didn’t fix it
  • Changing the parent mesh had no effect, other than different material elements are affected

Workaround
Depending on the mesh affected, changing the position of meshes can hide the ‘corrupted element’.

ps. Unable to use the bug submission form, since it asks for logs, but this bug has no logs and it is not possible to upload a simple txt, png etc file.
