Hello,
I use 5.3 in Virtual Production and cinematic creation daily at work. It is stable, applies and compiles shader quite fast.
During a recent personal I project I thought I’d try out 5.6 to test out a couple of new feautres and I was very dissapointed. Applying a very simple master material took quite a long time compated to what I am used to from the earlier versions, and modifying more complex master materials with many instances took ages. Compiling and loading levels also took a lot longer. I had issues with importing simple fbx files, only managed to import the models after deleting saved and intermediate.
The whole engine feels unstable, I had way more crashes compated to what I am used to in 5.3.
I was running the latest 5.6 release on I9, 4090 and 32 GB RAM. Does anyone else have a similar experience? I feel like the new and improved features of 5.4-5.5-5.6 are getting overshadowed with the crippling and worsening performance. I rather choose stability and reliability of 5.3 over the new features and quality of life improvements of later releases.
