this is simply thirdperson template packaged game. Why am I getting such low fps? They make MMORPG games with Unreal engine and make 100km2 games and play them with 150+ fps. The best example is Throne and Liberty and Ashes of Creation. How can I develop a game when I get such low fps even in the demo theme?
Look, I’m putting an example of throne and liberty here. The guy with an i5 12400 processor and a 3060 video card plays 90 fps. But I get 80 fps even in the empty demo theme.
I’m assuming that the project settings have Lumen enabled as the default lighting system. It is VERY expensive compared to standard lighting methods.
Also, don’t forget that the editor itself also consumes resources. You can more objectively evaluate the performance by running the Standalone window (and don’t forget to hide the editor for the duration of the test), or run test in a packaged project.
It is possible that the problem is in the Preview version, I would not do anything serious in it, just to evaluate future innovations.
In version 5.4 I turn off all quality settings, including lumens, and I turn off reflection, I get 300 fps. But when I turn off all the quality settings at 5.5, I get 180 fps
