5.4 crashing due to lack of Video Memory but not true. 3090 ti 24GB

First time trying to run Unreal.

I have a 3090 ti 24gb, running Windows 11 23H2, NVIDIA 546.33

  1. The engine crashes before I can do anything.
  2. When I try and start a project it will either
a)My computer will give an error message telling me I am out of video Memory.
    b) My computer will blue screen.

Checking task-manager, the GPU reports plenty of free video memory; no other memory-hungry apps are running.

Not sure where to go from here.

Do you have any other GPU like integrated intel or something like that, if you do make sure the engine is using the dedicated GPU.

I dont think so, Running the 13900 K (i don’t think it has integrated graphics,) but I’m fishing around inside the UE_5.4/Engine/config folder and not sure what i’m look for.

I’m also nervous to be poking around inside the running program with the blue screens happening. I want to try as hard as possible to avoid corrupting stuff.

Open Nvidia panel see what GPU you are using.

start → run → dxdiag. it will take a few seconds but ought to pop up a window like so, click the Display tab:

If you are lazy, there is a convenient ‘Next Page’ button you can use to advance through the tabs…

I would also suggest checking Event Viewer.
