5.1 Windows build stuck on packaging

After upgrading from UE 5.0.3, it seems like I’m unable to build my project anymore. The build process doesn’t output any errors but keeps packaging forever with no file output. Is anyone experiencing the same issues? Attaching build log in case it helps

I am also stuck during packaging but mine does not make it past “waiting for skinned assets to be ready 0/1”.

I am not sure what the problem is. Upgraded from 5.0.3 source to 5.1.0 source

I had the same error during packaging it would just hang. i had to undo the Shader Model ^ shader settings that you are warned about in project settings.

"Shader Model 6 (SM6) is required to use Virtual Shadow Maps. Please enable this in : Project Settings → Platforms → Windows → D2D12 Targeted Shader Formats Virtual shadow maps will not work until this is enabled. "

I only have SM5 checked now under D2D12 and it’s able to build past the hang point. Hope that helps.

I copied over all the .ini files inside the Config folder from a freshly made UE 5.1 project and that seems to have resolved the issue.

It appears that one thing that can trigger this issues is if you have the target directory open in Windows Explorer while packaging.

This worked for me as well. Weird and hopefully they’ll fix virtual shadow maps to actually build when enabled…

Worked for me as well to copy over the config/*.ini files from a different project.

I narrowed down the problem by gradually reverting the ini files and their lines. It seems I needed to add two lines to my DefaultEngine.ini:

[/Script/EngineSettings.GameMapsSettings]
EditorStartupMap=/Maps/Island1.umap

Not adding either of those would cause it to get stuck. The EditorStartupMap seems like it could point to anything, didn’t need to be a valid map. hope that helps someone else

EDIT: Actually it seems to have been an issue with my map which had an object I had called “FoliageManager” with some custom C++ code. After I removed that from my map it seems I was able to start up normally with that map

Excuse me, have you solved this problem? My project does not pass ‘waiting for skinned assets to be ready 0/1’ as well, while packaging for IOS.

Here is fix for me. Try delete Target package folder (parent folder for Windows or Android_ASTC). But I’m must delete this folder before every packaging. If I don’n packaging stuck again. I’m have no clue how this works
