I open a project for the first time in unreal engine 5.0.3, but it crashes, how can I solve this problem?
Hey @OktayAdak! Welcome to the Forums!
A few questions to get things started:
- Did this project open in a previous version of Unreal?
- Have you tried verifying your install of 5.0.3?
- Do you have “Editor symbols for debugging” installed in your UE 5.0.3 options? If not, find your 5.0.3 install in your Launcher Library → Click the arrow → Select Options → Tick the box for Editor symbols for debugging. Your logs should be more detailed and could help us narrow down the problem if you post them.
Looking at what you have already, atidxx64 suggests there are missing or corrupted files, so verifying your files or reinstalling 5.0.3 may do the trick.
Any additional specifics or information you can provide may go a long way in solving your problem!
I did everything you said
i got it verified
I reinstalled
I also opened the editor symbols
but it’s not working
I haven’t opened it in any other version before. I opened the project in ue5.0.3 for the first time
So now that you have Editor Symbols installed you’ll probably see more information in that crash log. (Not just “atidxx64”) Please post that log again.
Also, since it mentions ‘ati’ I wonder if it is graphics card related. What GPU do you have and have you updated the GPU drivers?
Cheers
my gpu :amd hd6500series 1gb
Thanks for that. It’s unclear if you’ve updated your drivers yet. https://www.amd.com/en/support would be the place to get them.
I looked up your GPU, it’s supposed to have at least DirectX11. But since it is about 1 decade old, you will have to turn the scalability settings to minimum.
UE5 is particularly hard on the GPU. One path forward would be to try installing UE4.
I wonder if trying to start the editor with DirectX 11 will allow it to launch.
Try adding this to your Project/Config/DefaultEngine.ini
[/Script/WindowsTargetPlatform.WindowsTargetSettings]
DefaultGraphicsRHI=DefaultGraphicsRHI_DX11
I did what you said but it doesn’t work. I’ll try again after I renew my card.
So, do you think my processor (i5-4670 3.4 Ghz) is enough for ue5? Should I Renew My Processor?
your gfx card is hurling.
change your gpu first.
an i5 does kind of suck, but its the ati gpu that’s failing
disable dx12 rhel
ok thanks
+1 for getting a new GPU. (Many modern GPUs require additional power connectors, so make sure that your power supply has what is required, you may be able to convert SATA or MOLEX power into 6 or 8 pin GPU power pins.)
Processor should be adequate.
Hi - I am having the same problem, first time user of UE5.03 and crashing on project start. I am going to follow your instructions, but noted your comment “One path forward would be to try installing UE4.” do you have a link to this download please. My cards are also ancient (2 off HD-5570) so suspect a compatibility issue maybe? I’ll post the log file once I’ve done as suggest earlier in your responses. Many thanks
in the launcher
up top left where it has your 5.03
hit the plus sign and add a 4.27
if you do not have a gtx 1060 or better
stick with 4.27 or upgrade your card
I have a 1060 and 5.03 is fine in it.
I would swap out the radeon cards and get nvidia
you will probably need to turn off dx12 or you will have a lot of d3d crashes
