4.9.2 Instability

Im not sure what you mean by circular references, but that error log i posted above is from automation check. The blueprints that report error have nothing to do with each other and i haven’t changed anything in them. FeaturePacks, InstallingiTunesTutorial, SettingUpAndroidTutorial are not mine, i suppose they are from the editor, why are they reporting error?

Plus those are the files that came up when i tried to verify my engine build (on a new installation?)

I recorded the video, you can see how and when engine crashes.

The reason I asked for this specific error was because the automation checks within frontend perform various open and compile checks on these blueprints, the crash I was referring to dealt specifically with actors that had circular dependencies within them that were opened and compiled, so it is possible that this crash occurs if circular dependencies are present while you are doing the automation tests. What I mean by circular references is that one blueprint accesses another blueprint that needs information from the first blueprint to be able to run the function the first blueprint requested, so it becomes a “circle” in a sense.

Nope, the four of my blueprints that are reporting error are not connected in any way. I can open them and compile with no problems before running the automation check, but after, it crashes the engine.

I fixed everything else and beside client getting black screen this is the only thing that’s bothering me right now. It may be that those blueprints are broken like the one i fixed by simply copying it, so im gonna try and do that.

Hi miki86,

Have you had any luck with the black screen? Does this still occur for you on your end?

Hi

I managed to get it working through the shortcut and “-game” parameter. Launching two instances through the engine still doesn’t work, standalone nor New Editor Window. Standalone used too launch two windows, now only one. Could be that it has to do something with my player state because that’s the only thing i changed recently, but then again, MultiplayerShootout doesn’t work either.

I get a message that the connection is lost but sometimes im able to connect through console with or without port number, sometimes i can’t. I don’t think i changed any of my firewall settings so that’s not it. The only thing i changed was i installed a fresh copy of the engine, the one that worked was updated since 4.8 till the last update.

So this is no longer occurring? I’m a bit confused by your last statement. Has the error shifted in some way or is it no longer occurring at all?

It is occurring, before i installed the fresh copy i never had to use shortcut parameters to test the multiplayer, everything worked well.

It’s working now as well, in a way. I still get black screen on client but typing “open 127.0.0.1” in console started working each time now, no port specified.

Regarding all the errors and crashes i described above that im experiencing, some of them vanished, like crashing when i change something in parent class and that strange mesh rotation, but automation still gives errors that it can’t find components even though they are there.

Unfortunately at this point to be able to test further I will need a copy of the project you are working with. I haven’t been able to reproduce these errors on my end. Can you private message me a link to a google drive or dropbox FTP service with your project so I can take a look? You can PM me on the forums.

Hi miki86,

We have not heard from you in several days. I am marking this as answered for tracking purposes. If you are still experiencing this error, please comment with the requested information.
