Fixed! UE-38750 Imported Materials Are Not Assigned To Correct Element Index Based Off Mat ID (3dsMax)

Editor crash when I import or reimport from 3ds any mesh with more then 10 ID in multi material.
And of course you do not fix " bug fix " either today or tomorrow. Brilliant bug fix. Keep it up!

Ok. Not " any mesh ". My mesh with what I work crash editor when I use multi material more than 10 ID.
I create just simply box, slice it 20 times, set for different pieces different IDs, assign to box multi material and begin add more and more IDs to multi material. Editor crash on import of sliced multi IDs box when numbers of IDs more than 16.

Yepp, same here. is really really bad as I’m in a middle of a project with short deadline. Obviously I never update to newer engine version when time is precious, but I never had any issue with hotfixes previously. Is there a way to roll it back?

Edit: A terrible workaround: use a project made with 4.13 for import, then migrate the meshes to the 4.14 one.

I have updated the ticket with additional information from our developer. It is marked as Won’t Fix due to HUD not being supported. Alternate approaches are suggested.

Unfortunately not. We are only able to share tickets from the ‘UE’ project. (there is no update yet for that particular ticket)

There is no way to roll back Hotfixes via the Launcher. To access an earlier version, you would need to compile source code via GitHub.

Where are the release notes for all the changes in 4.14.2? Thanks!

Does forward rendering work on osx?
I created new empty project, switched to forward shading, and all materials turned black. The material editor is not working as well.

something ive found in every version of 4.14 is two versions of the editor cant be open at once…one will always loose focus and be forever not focusable until shut down with task manager…usually both will end up doing …never had problem with previous engine versions…heard other users mention as well on the slackers discord

You guys are the best! Works like a charm.

Can we also get the “isolate” and “highlight” checkboxes back on top (not on LOD), now you have to scroll down constantly to check what material slot is used where. Very annoying imo (inside the model viewer). wasn’t an issue in the past.

Unreal Engine 4.14.2 Crashing your system to die so badly!

Unreal Engine 4.14.2 crashing on my Windows 10 computer so badly with black screen and only music playing, I don’t see screen at all and I cannot even report a bug or even cancel some operation, even working blind such as Alt+F4 doesn’t close app and I only thing to do is Hard-Reset, after having 2 hard resets today my Windows 10 died and I was not able to login back to my account some important files were corrupted and Windows created temporary account for me, I had to switch all stuff back and re-start few times to be able just to get back to regular account, thankfully it worked well, I want to report bug and I hope they will take some high-attention to it, it started from 4.14, probably Vive have some problems I dont know and I cannot have that Crash-Windows dialog, because it’s super bad crash!!!

I’m also having some trouble with the latest release, can’t say for sure what is is though.
UE4, after x amount of time will freeze up entirely. No response. I have only noticed it happened if I open another app (i.e: firefox) and don’t work in the editor for some time. When I try to go back to it, it will not respond to anything, not even focusing when I click on it with any window in front.

I did however see some windows “error” which I’m not sure wheter is related. “Could not save theme” or whatever it was. I’ll try to reproduce it and post pack.
To note: it’s a c++ project, MSVS open in paralell.

I second really heavily! Also a long time ago, when you spawned a scalar parameter with S+Left click in the material editor, its name was highlighted automatically. It was so comfortable to make plenty of them quickly. Is there any we get back in the future?

UPDATE!

The 4.14.3 Hotfix is now live! hotfix resolves a few important issues with the 4.14 release, including the FBX import crash that was unfortunately introduced in the previous hotfix.

I only used the last hotfix release a couple of times and was definitely getting loads of ‘out of video memory’ crashes. Hopefully UE-40294 resolves that for me.

bug is a real problem.

I have have found quite a few reported permutations of it on the forum. With many hundreds of child blueprint actors, having to fix their defaults every few days is a real issue.
