When importing and Animation(s) using the content browser, selecting and existing Will not stay selected.
I found going in to the Animation panel then importing in to the Asset browser and then not selecting the “” is the only way around this.
I dont know if this is intentional or not but i feel like it is a bug.
Im following the “3rd Person Game with Blueprints” tutorials in the unreal wiki Video Tutorials section.

Hey ,
Can you rephrase your issue? I’m not sure what you mean when you say it “will not stay selected”.
Which video are you watching and at what time in the video are you experiencing issues?
-.
When selecting from the drop down, Dragging or dropping or using the “Browse for content” option when trying to define the link, it changes it to “none”

I managed to side step the animation import problem by importing through the Animation editor… But then when i selected the Custom it just changed it to “none”
So, you worked around the animation import, but that means it’s still a problem with the instance of the Editor that you’re using. Are you now saying that ALL dropdowns like this, throughout the entire Editor, revert to “None” for you?
I’m trying to figure out a specific case that I can test because I’m not seeing this bug anywhere.
Also, because this seems rather unique, would you mind reinstalling the editor to ensure that it isn’t just a bad install?
I reinstalled and the problem stayed, I tried deleting and redownloading and then installing and it still stayed.
I redid the tutorials and i have the same problem… its only with custom content, Any content in the game already will work fine.

Problem continue’s after Redownloading and redoing the tutorials.
Checking if its 4.11 or just my computer
Fixed the problem, its because I was naming my files with a (s)
