3rd Person Setup

Well I have to say that I am having allot of fun with UE4 so far. Every day I discover something new or how things are connected. I post most of my discoveries on my youtube channel. But… for the life of me I cannot figure out how to properly import characters or setup npcs or how the whole blueprint and animations are all connected. I am having a very hard time with this part of UE4.

So can someone please help me out and start from the very beginning? If anyone know of tutorials that takes me step by step that would be great.

I am using Blender 3D for character export and my model is rigged.

Any help is great.

hmm…no posting…I guess I am the only one having issues with it. Thanx forum.

I also have this problem, i belive there was some good tutorials about it tho

Have you read through the documentation yet? If not, have a read. Otherwise more info on this can be found here

Have a look at Unreal Engine’s YouTube channel, and have a look at the recent Basic AI twitch stream.

Unreal Engine 4 Training Twitch: Basics of AI

And I sympathise with you. I have found it very hard to find out even basic stuff about animations and NPCs. I can import them, and set out paths, but I haven’t found a good guide to really dig deep into this. But this clip will help.

Thanx. I’ve watched hours of tuts but nothing solid that takes u from step a to b…
This is what I am looking for is this:
Import Rigged Character (this part is easy…DONE) > Re-target Animation Pack (free UE4) > Add New Animation (make in UE4)

For re-targeting the skeleton, follow the official guide. For creating new animations I wouldn’t recommend not doing this in UE4 but rather some software that has been designed for this (Blender perhaps?)

Yeah, Sorin, ULLS is right. You won’t find stuff on making animations in UE4, because it is not designed to do this. Blender, or MODO, Maya or 3DS Max is the way to go for that.
