im running into an issue i cant explain myself or solve anymore. I am showing you this with an example of a static mesh i create in 3dsmax 2014 and use it in UE4.8.1
here is my workflow which worked yesterday, but not today anymore. maybe because its another date, who knows? tried solving this for 6 hrs now…
ok, here is the workflow:
- I create a static mesh in 3dsmax and export it.
- I import it into Unreal:
3.1. I create a simple blueprint and add the mesh in the static mesh component slot from the dropdown menu -> nothing happens, slot stays empty
3.2. I drag and drop the static cube into the slot from the asset browser -> its marked green, but as i drop it, nothing happens, slot stays empty
3.3 i place the static mesh into the world and create a blueprint from it -> it works, but only until i try to replace the actor again
replacing components with assets i imported yesterday work fine.
replacing assets i imported today dont work anymore as they should. even fbx files from my colleagues dont work as soon as i import them into the engine.
creating an asset on another machine or version of the engine and then porting it into my projcet does not help either, same issues.
hope there is a well known standart solution for this that can be solved easily 8)
