3D viewer AND 3D viewer (editor) for GLTF USDZ. WORKING TWICE ON EACH PACKAGE FOR THE SAME RESULTS.

Hi there, i come accross some frustration when posting my packages to fab. I’m talking only when posting FBX formats. When you make a 3D viewer for your package, that’s great. You need to import the fbx, import all textures to create the materials and then tweak the scene a bit. Nice. BUT THEN, if you want to make the conversion to the others formats for the users to be able to drag and drop them easily in their project, you need to do it ALL OVER AGAIN. And that for every packages. It’s so long for exactly the same thing. Would be nice to have a way to copy your 3D viewer editor settings from one to the other and vice versa so that you don’t work twice for the same thing. Is there people with the same issue? and if so did you find a work around? Is Epic looking for fixing this?

Hello,
Thanks for this feedback.
I’d like to make sure I understand properly the issue.
Do you mean you have made your model available through various formats (fbx, usd, obj, glb, whatever) and that you need to redo the setting for each model when you import them.
Or do you mean you upload an FBX and the auto conversion to glb, usd doesn’t reflect the changes you did?

If it’s the first case we may have something that could help, in the future, unfortunately I can’t give you an ETA, neither tell you how it going to be done, as it’s still in early incubation right now.
Basically you would be able to save the settings of a model (lights, post processes, some parts of the materials, background, etc) and reapply them to another one. Textures is the hard part, transferring them from one model to another is usually quite complex (as we might not have the same uvs and such). In any case, this is basically dev team ideas, that might or may not end up in the final product. So I can’t guaranty anything.

if it’s the second that might be a bug we need to look into.

Do you have an example of listing that I could look into?
