3D Scanning and Unreal Engine

Hi everyone

I plan to use my 3D scanner to scan everyday objects and convert them into 3D models for use in Unreal Engine. In my endeavors, I already have a textured fused mesh (from my MIRACO 3D scanner) of a 3D scan of a Gundam model that I want to add some other elements to. I haven’t used Unreal before but have it available through work. So is this a reasonable approach? Can I import an OBJ file (with textures) and place it on top of it? I also plan to put more scan data into Unreal to make animations. This sounds amazing, but is it feasible? I would like to hear your suggestions.

Also, I have been exploring 3D modeling. Should I focus on learning a dedicated modeling software like Blender, Maya, etc., or master the modeling tools provided in Unreal Engine 5?

I would love to hear any suggestions you have. Thank you in advance!
