Hello all… like the title says I needed to flip some of the normals on a model I got from Fab, when I put it in blender it ran a bunch of Python… I read this has been a problem with some models lately.
I assume Epic doesn’t have time to check every model on Fab for malicious code… should I be worried? Is it finally time for Incigni? Lol…
I’ll report the model if anyone thinks I should as well… Does anyone know how Epic handles this kind of thing?
I’ll def be shutting off auto run…
Thanks for your time…
Hey there @AscentisTrinitil! Welcome back to the community! This could be concerning! Could I take a look at the script it ran?
Hey @SupportiveEntity thanks for your time! I’ve seen your name around here more than once helping out… Nice of you!
I looked at it a bit just now and it appears that it’s turning on addons they used but it did about give me a heart attack lol…
Here’s a screenshot if you still don’t mind taking a look though, thanks much!
That definitely looks benign enough from the python file names. Is that a default Blender plugin it’s using?
If you mean the auto run python option I think it’s on by default… the rest look like they’re at least called “Blender Foundation…” I think I’m good.
I’d still say turn off the auto run python scripts though, I read online there have been some models going around with malicious code… Never ends huh?
Thanks for helping out!
You could actually go to that addon folder you can verify the addon and where it came from and even check the code if its from a third party, but those are indeed base blender addons being called so all is likely well. I’m glad your issue is sorted!
