3D Laser Scans Mesh Detail Workflow

Hi,
I cant seem to be able to reproduce as a mesh all the main details available with my 3D laser scans (e.g. the railing and other details visible in the pointcloud - please see attached image). The detail is definitely there as the pointcloud was captured with the Leica RTC360.

I currently follow the below basic steps:

Upload PTX scans > Alignment > Clipping Box > High Detail Meshing

I have also the Dropbox link below to a small number of the PTX 3D laser scans if this helps, thank you.

Hi Antony,

how does look just mesh on that places (without textures)?

Did you send also those places in your sample data? Have you changed some of the reconstruction settings? Do you have all of the laser scans aligned in RealityCapture? How are laser scans placed over those places?

Hi ,

Appreciate the response, please see attached image, thank you.

Hi Anthony,

your workflow is right. What I can see, I would add one more scan there:
and also it seems like there is something deleted in the mentioned area in the original point cloud:
Is there laser scan near to the benches. I can’t see one… If not that would be place where I would add another laser scan position.

Hi Ondrej,

Yes I can see that there is some pointcloud missing there I can add an extra scan. Regarding details such as the railing, this is captured in quite some detail in the pointcloud and I can see in the RealityCapture images it is also very clear there too. Are any of the mesh settings or other settings I have used from what you can see could be adjusted to add more detail with the resulting mesh? Thanks.

I think it is not necessary to use 900 m cropping radius. The pre set 150 is better, as point over that distance are not so precise and you can get some noise there.
