360° Omnidirectional Stereo Renders — Lumen, Seamless Volumetrics & Multi-Machine | TrueODS

Hi everyone, I’m the developer of TrueODS, a Movie Render Queue plugin for 360° omnidirectional stereo and VR180 ODS rendering. Here are three cinematic scenes rendered with it: outdoor volumetric fog, a coffee-shop interior and a research lab.

These examples are 360° stereo renders. The GIFs alternate between the left and right eye to show parallax on a flat screen. They are reduced previews; the downloadable stills are 8192 × 8192 top/bottom stereo, with 8192 × 4096 per eye. Output resolution is configurable.

The checkpoint shows fog and lighting across the full panorama. The downloadable video is a sample of the multi-machine rendering workflow in TrueODS Distributed.

Pole Mono Merge blends the eyes toward mono near the top and bottom poles; this can appear as ghosting.

Interior depth

The coffee shop shows stereo depth with nearby furniture, a foreground character and objects farther into the room.

Output and workflow

The plugin supports Lumen, seamless volumetric rendering, linear HDR EXR output and resuming interrupted renders.

Supported fog and volume types include height and volumetric fog, mesh-based volume materials, Local Fog Volumes, Volumetric Clouds, VDB / heterogeneous volumes and custom fog effects. Niagara sprites and ribbons render seamlessly with default settings using either CPU or GPU simulation. Particle cards for steam, rain, airborne dust and smoke are also supported.

If you work on pre-rendered VR cinematics, I’d be interested in feedback on the downloaded stereo output, especially the depth and volumetric continuity. Questions are welcome here, or in our groups for pre-sales questions and demos: Telegram or WhatsApp.

Demo scenes, characters and third-party assets are not included with the plugin. Environment credits: Leartes Studios (Coffee Shop Environment) and Tirgames Assets (Sci-Fi Creatures Research Lab).
