2D Snap Layers - Viewport Not Showing

Hello everyone,

I am attempting to follow a course that I had purchased on Udemy to get up to speed on Unreal Engine 5. During the course, the instructor enables 2D Snap Layers. Normally, the viewport will display the 2D Snap Layers as a widget. I have tried using google and the forum for several hours since yesterday, but to no avail. Is there an additional setting or a change within 5.6? Naturally, I verified that the setting is turned on. I can use Cntrl+PageUp (or PageDown) and my object will move on the layers that I had set, but makes it a bit tedious than setting a predetermined layer while building out a level for each object.

Upon further examination, the 2D Snap Layers shows up in 5.5, is this a bug of 5.6 or a UI change?

Hi @reaply,
I’ve been looking into it, and it doesn’t seem to be a bug , it’s actually an intentional change in UE 5.6. In version 5.5, the 2D Snap Layers widget was visible in the viewport, but in 5.6 they redesigned the viewport toolbar and simplified the interface. Now, a lot of tools like this one aren’t always visible and are instead accessed through contextual menus or keyboard shortcuts, like you mentioned earlier, for example, Ctrl + Page Up / Page Down still works the same way.

The functionality is still there, it’s just that the widget isn’t shown by default anymore. It’s part of the changes they made to make the UI cleaner and more dynamic as you can see in the image

I’ll leave a link to the documentation about the changes, in case you’re interested!
