Is it possible to create realistically simulated water for a 2D game in UE4? If so, do you have any suggestions on how I might accomplish this?
Seems impossible. You could go a pseudo 2d route maybe, and have a super thing fluid sim, but I don’t think you could do it in real time, at least in top down. If it’s a side scroller, different story. There’s one plug-in, I forgot what it was called, but it apparently works really well for real-time fluid sim. You can try that. If you’re going for a pixelated look, I don’t know if you could do it with that plug-in, but maybe you can have a material or a post process? Idk I’m not in this sector of development yet so
Are you thinking about FluidNinja? Because they have AWESOME fluidsims as 2D Solution in their example folders
I would try this material tutorial and slap it on a plane to see what happens.
