2D character rotation/face direction


trying to learn character blueprints so i decided to replicate the 2D sidescroller character. only this time with a paragon character. the thing is. i can get her to move but not turn. i followed the settings from the template exactly – switching out only the skel mesh and anim bp. i also jigged things around so X is the forward vector.

as you can see from this video she moves back and forth as she should but she doesn’t turn to face the direction she’s moving. i’m thinking i missing a checkbox or something similar but i’ve been back over ever component and i can’t find where i’ve gone wrong. any help is appreciated.
