2023.1 Unstable / Unusable Mac

We're using up to date Mac's and the 2023.1 update crashes on new files and on updating 2022 files. On the 2022 files, the Saved Images window crashes every time.

I have not been able to use the software for more than 20 mintues in a new file, or updated, without a major crash. I would advise not using this until a hot fix comes out. Not the best update I've seen.

Major total hangs when using this new update. We have the new Mac Pro with loads of power in it. Worked fine with all other updates. But now crash after 2 or 10 minutes work.

Hey there guys, I'm unable to reproduce the issue with macOS internally.

Having said that I'm super curious to reproduce this issue.

Ideally, if you could report a bug using the "contact us" that would be very helpful.

Please provide us with as many details as possible like the macOS version, whether are you on M1, your graphic cards, etc.

If you are able to provide the problematic file and the crash.log even better:)

Thank you

I tried to submit the file in a bug report, 3 times, upload failed every time and the file was less than 1GB. I also tried to reply to this thread 4-5 times, no luck, 32 sentence crash notice. Bad update, no support. Not good.

This is very strange but please use this link to share your file. This should work :)

Happy Holidays!!!

Please note the Epic games will be on Holiday break from today and returning on January 4th.

Thank you for your understanding

I know this thread is from 4 months ago, but it's the best I could find. Just updated from the preview to the full 2023.1, and I can't get it to not crash for more than a couple of minutes. But the most often it crashes right at startup. I've verified it several times, still crashes at startup. If it doesn't crash straight away, it crashes on new files as well as converted 2022 files. Absolutely unusable. Running 16-inch, 2021 MacBook Pro Apple M1 Max 64 GB Ventura 13.3.1, everything up to date.

Oh, and I've uninstalled and reinstalled it too, with no stability improvement.

Hi ! Got this answer from a great one at their support.

It worked for me on my Mac M1 Pro max

Hello Kay and thank you for reaching out, this is a known issue and the team is investigating the problem.

In the meantime here's a workaround that you can try:

  1. Choose Apple menu  > System Settings
  2. Click your name, then select iCloud
  3. Scroll down and under iCloud+, click Private Relay
  4. Turn the Private Relay OFF

Wow, thanks for sharing , I was incredulous when I read your post, but you're right, it worked. Why hasn't Epic communicated on this?? I wasted hours struggling with a constantly crashing TM.
