Hi. Skye. Excited to participate.
Would using a render target count as a texture in the āUse it or Lose itā modifier?
āuse it or lose itā question -
Can I prepare an atlas that is going to be used to generate different textures in runtime? Like voronoi, FBM noises and then generate whole world with that elements (including palette and etc)? Like they did for demoscene
I believe they said in the kickoff stream it was limited to a 4k texture, so if you use an atlas or 3d texture you would be limited by that.
She answered my question about RenderTargets in discord. It would depend on how you use it. If you are using them in a way that violates the spirit of the modifier it would count against you.
The modifier is meant to be about using packed textures and vertex data smartly, not doing everything procedurally.
Iād say focus on your game for now and donāt worry to much about the modifier. The game jam is about having fun and actually finishing something. Donāt stress too much about the details of the rules or if youāll win prizes.
Iāve heard this phrase āAs above, So belowā but am not very familiar with what it really means. A quick google search suggest it is something like recurring patterns in physical or metaphysical sense. Did I understand that correctly?
Also, can I interpret it anyway I want for this jam?
As above, so below - the original art shows meduses and clouds, which would mean a theme related to the skies (above) and below the ground like underground and below sea level (underwater) - thatās how I interpret it
Exactly, Space and Earth, Island and Ocean, Heaven and Hell, etc.
Hi! Already enjoying this Megajam! I was wondering if you need to provide at submission a video of full gameplay or a cinematic game trailer?
Hey @MulticoreGames. Thank you for your question!
Submissions must include a link to gameplay footage (between 30-60 seconds) demonstrating recorded gameplay.
We donāt require welcome entrants to have a cinematic game trailer, but this isnāt needed for submission. So I wouldnāt worry about trailers/cinematics- make sure to include a link to gameplay footage on submission (This can be a screen recording of you playing it, for example, through OBS).
Thanks!
So mods are answering only selected questions? xD
@MaKiPL It looked as though Impavid has answered your question. However, I have reached out to GameTextures for further clarification on the Use It or Lose It special modifier category.
Great, thank you!
[QUESTION] re: submission. Iāve never completed a game before, and therefore never submitted to itch.io. Iād love to work through the submission process now so I donāt hit a bump last minuteā¦ so hereās my n00b question:
Am I able to upload a work in progress packaged file to itch now, and then update or add to it later in the week?
I think Iāve got my answerā¦ Short answer is yes. Upload to itch.io whenever you want. Hold off on clicking the āsubmit your projectā button until final submission
Please clarify if Iāve got anything wrong or may be overlooking something as a newbie.
Hi, @SkyeEden. I want to know if I use theme banner materials to make my project. Does that will violate the rules? Like this:
Thanks
You can change material settings, copy to another folder, create an instance, and use base materials, but you need to switch to your case.
@marciocamello Thanks for reply. About my question is I used the MegaJam theme banner image as source for my project. Of course, all items in scene will have their own materials. As picture above, some are gray because itās in work of progress
@SkyeEden I submit project in time but insnt in submited project page Emerald Express by xhn11
Hello! I wanted to ask about the exclusive licence of the inscriptions. Does this means I cant release the game on my own? For example, make a kickstarter to fund the development for releasing in playstation?
