I sadly had to work alone on this jam but I did my best. Dedicated to my friend Trisu.

You control a little robot who has to escape from deadly and earth melting sunbeams.
Run through the levels as fast as possible and escape earth or get melted by the sunbeams.

Have fun and thanks for playing!

My first game jam ever - wow! What a fun weekend! ā€‹ We had a team of 5 and really worked up to the wire to create all of the visual assets from scratch (Submitted at 11:49)!
Watching everyone elseā€™s progress on Twitter was also amazing!

This is what ours ended up looking like:

Introducing our VR game Ice Castle Hassle!

Let the villagers through, but sink the monsters by shooting fire balls to break the ice or ice balls to restore it.
Full instructions included in the ā€œREADMEā€ in the zip!

Hereā€™s a small trailer I cut together last night:

And this is what some unedited gameplay looks like:

Download the game here:

Weā€™d also love to hear your feedback!

Have fun!
I canā€™t wait to try out everyone elseā€™s games!

Most of us are new to game jamming or our fist time doing it for the Unreal game jam, but we had a lot of fun and despite our busy daily lives, managed to make something fun too! In this game, you are a snow plow trying to plow the neighborhood street as fast as you can! Just watch out for the ice on the streets and the parked cars and other things as you go because they will get in your way! There are two ways to be on thin ice in this game; Literally being on ice and based on time, but we found that it was just as fun to just plow everything in sight! We hope you guys enjoy it!

Controls: Left and Right arrows.

Thanks to Kevin Macleod for making Cyborg Ninja (background music) and posting it online for all to use!

Grab a rock and break the ice to knock your opponent into the water in this 2 player game.
Player 1 keyboard, Player 2 controller.
Sounds are from freesound.org and ampermusic.com, all other assets were created for this game jam.
I wouldā€™ve liked to have created more levels, but think it was my best game yet!

A huge thank you to Epic Games / Unreal for the opportunity to take part in a community event, and last but not least the awesome team members I had the pleasure of working with!

Nanuq on Ice

Concept: Typical platformer with destructibles, sounds effects made with my mouth, and a few glitches! Play as Nanuq as you try to get from one side of the lake to the other. As you progress in levels, the size of level increases and traps making it increasingly harder to progress. An endless game of fun! If endless isnā€™t your jig, try out time trials!

WASD - Movement
Space Bar - Jump
Shift - Boost

Icy Bois

Endless Arcade Racer: Youā€™re in a sled racing through an endless icy landscape, collecting snowflakes and ice pops, and crashing through ice obstacles at high speed.

Controls are WASD, or left-stick on a controller.

Hey all, here is my first ever entry into the UE4 game jam as well as my first post!

Thin Ice Fast Arrows
Survive. Keep Warm. Keep Moving.

Solo Entry

Had fun, ran out of time towards the end to polish the UI and get the custom character in there.
Also unfortunately I realised the version I submitted for entry had a game progression bug that stopped you from reaching the Boss. :frowning:
This version has that bug fix and a couple of tweaks.

Here is a version with the progression bug fix as well as a couple of other bug fixes;

And here is the OG submission version without the fixes;

Used a few sounds from freesounds.org and some textures from game textures as well as an Ice Shader from Gumroad.
Along with a few particles with some slight tweaks from Infinity Blade: Effects and a tree from the Soul Cave assets and the UMG system from the Game Jam Kit.

About the game:

Keep moving
The Ice will crack and break under your feet.

Keep Warm.
Find campfires to warm yourself up and restore your health and use your torch to slow the drop of your body temperature, but be weary as the Ice around you will melt quicker.

Survive.
Hunt down the mysterious dark beast lurking beneath the ice. Use your all powerful Arrows to pierce the dark energy trying to stop you.

Keyboard/Mouse or Gamepad controls (minus the menus)

Left stick - Movement
Right stick - Fire
A button - Special attack

WASD - Movement
Arrow Keys - Fire
F Key - Special attack
P Key - Pause
V Key - to remove tutorial

We used a couple of packs, mega jam and pro-sound pack for music and sound effects, the animation starter pack for the animations and we decided last minute to use the chameleon -snow effect for post processing as we had an particle effect but couldnā€™t keep up with the camera speed.

There are still a few minor bugs, but these bugs donā€™t affect game play. We are still extremely pleased with the game and final submission.

Hope you enjoy

While making this game, the game type changed about three different times. It started out being a spleef game with a rink of destructible ice, but it ended up being a 2D Shooter Puzzle game. I didnā€™t have a whole lot of time to spend on level design, so I only made one tutorial level. I learned a lot along the way, and I plan on adding more to the game, including enemies and more levels with actual puzzles.

To Epic: I made a better video to put in the showcase, I linked it here. This one has twice the frame per second!

Iā€™m also a first time game jam participant. I created

**Ice Glider VR **
for HTC Vive

Download Link
https://drive.google.com/open?id=1Rqā€¦HUq5ox03-_FCg7

Instructions

  • Start SteamVR
  • Start Ice Glider VR
  • No Controllers needed
  • Steer by rolling head left or right
  • Itā€™s more fun, if others watch you and you try to do it sitting on the virtual sledge on the floor
  • Get as far as you can
  • Rocks become more dense the farer you get
  • Can also be played with [A]/[D] on keys on a screen, but thatā€™s just 3% of the fun you can get

Bonus: You get stronger core muscles!

That was fun! Looking forward to participate in the next gamejam!

Three days is tough but itā€™s also rewarding putting something together within those confines. It isnā€™t winter here in NZ so snow and ice wasnā€™t really on the agenda for this entry. Instead I opted for the precarious situation of defending a battered space station from incoming ice asteroids. Had real fun with this one! Enjoy!

**Objective: **Protect the station as long as possible from a variety of incoming threats.

**Tips: **Asteroids can be neutralized with the beam, metal parts with the magnet and use the grapple to grab volatile items. You can repair damaged parts of the station by hovering near them and holding R. If your ship gets damaged and slow you can use a working repair pad to return it to full health.

WASD - Movement Controls (relative to current ship direction)
Hold Space - Spacebrake
Mouse - Aim
Mouse Scroll - Zoom Camera
Hold R - Repair station parts
LMB Click - Shoot beam
Hold MMB - Activate magnet
Hold RMB - Use grapple

Enter - Restart
Esc - Exit

Ahhh, I forgot there was this thread here as wellā€¦

VR Driving Game for Oculus Rift and Gamepad (havenā€™t tested on a Vive, let us know if it works!)

Seated position recommended.

Controls:
Left Stick to Steer,
Left and Right Trigger Buttons to Accelerate/Brake/Reverse,
Right Face Button to use Handbrake,
Right Special Button to reorient VR view/position.

If VR games make you sick I recommend the Comfort mode or if youā€™ve got good VR legs then I recommend the Vomit Comet mode.

Fight for your life against horrifying monsters and try to survive as long as possible.
Watch out for the thin ice that crumbles under your feet though. The deeper you fall, the harder it getsā€¦

Controls:

  • WSAD - Movement
  • Space Bar - Jump
  • Left Mouse Button - Shoot

We ended up making an itch.io page; we love it.
Hereā€™s the link: BLEAK by TylerCowan

After a week long recovery  I am happy to share with you my #ue4jam entry, Vulpes Ruber.
It is a VR, fight to the death between a Snowman and fire-bending foxes.

I worked on a dynamic snow material so the landscape would freeze or melt based on the fires burning around.
You can take a look at my itch.io page if you are interested. This sure was fun.
