1st experience ruined by no proxy support

Hi,

like any modern company that have to deal with security, our computers are safely guarded behind a firewall and a proxy

so it’s with great disapointment that we realized today that we could not evaluate unreal engine just becos of that

is this planned to be implemented one day ? so far, we are evaluating other engines :frowning:

regards

How does this prevent you evaluating UE4?

are you for real ?
the little gray rectangle(dialog?) displays a red triangle and a progress bar that stays there forever

So why don’t you get a computer/harddrive outside of your network and bring it in to the office with UE4 installed? Seems like a easy solution to me.

Our office is inside a bank, so as you can imagine, security is insane, and we have no problems accessing UE4. For other things, we VPN out.

If you’re having issues with your firewall / proxy, contact your IT team.

This is a problem with your IT services not providing with the tools you need do your job I’m afraid, not with Epic.

ports 80/443 are open , I tried without proxy, I tried going through another proxy
would be better if I could set proxy settings in the application before launching it

most of apps that I install do not need internet to run and as I will create all contents and programming, there is no point for me to have unreal engine communicating on the web

if at least there was a skip button…dont tell me I am the only one in that situation, so if u4 is not planning to implement this simple basic feature, I’ll go to unity (or jme3, not as big but at least the ide does not freeze for a lack of connection that works with all other programs)

thx unreal and so long

Did you check the support areas or Google for the issue?

Salutations phil123456,

mid_gen’s response I believe should be the one to resolve this issue.

However if that is not the case you may want to try asking IT to whitelist the *.epicgames.com domain.
In addition to ports 80 and 443 that I see you have already opened, you will also need to open port 5222.

If you would prefer not to open wildcard domains then you can whitelist these specific domains:

unrealtournament.com
fortnite.com
