Acer palmatum, commonly known as Japanese maple or palmate maple, is a deciduous small tree belonging to the Aceraceae family, genus Acer. Native to China, Japan, and the Korean Peninsula, it is now widely cultivated in temperate regions worldwide. Its leaves are palmately lobed, resembling chicken feet, hence its name. In autumn, the foliage transforms into vibrant hues of crimson, scarlet, and orange-yellow, making it highly ornamental.
