Acer negundo, also known as compound-leaved maple, American maple, or sugar maple (not in the strict sense of sugar maple), is a tall deciduous tree belonging to the genus Acer in the family Aceraceae (or Sapindaceae following modern taxonomic revisions). Native to North America, it has now been widely introduced to many regions worldwide. Owing to its strong adaptability and rapid growth, it is often used as an important tree species for urban greening or ecological restoration.
