Hello everyone! I’m happy to share with you my short film “101”. It was created for the first Unreal Engine Real-Time Short Film Challenge promoted by Epic Games ES and FICG (Festival Internacional de Cine Guadalajara).
I wasn’t selected, but I learned a lot with this project. Also it was the first time that I integrated a real person on the scene inside Unreal Engine. As I don’t have green screen, it took me some hours to remove manually the background in After Effects.
I bought some assets from Unreal Marketplace and adjusted some parameters inside materials and level sequence according to my needs for the
short film.
The short 101 has some references from The Matrix (1999) and Ghost In The Shell (2017).
Sinopsis:
After a few years without releasing a new film, a film director is working on a project of a robot with artificial intelligence that can help in his films and revolutionize the film industry.
101 merges the final project with a making of with a brief description of how the short was made.
Unreal Engine was the best platform to tell this story because the rendering is in
real-time and it allowed me to see and analyze everything that was happening in the
scene. Changing lights, moving objects, visualize the movements of a real person
inserted in the scene, all without having to wait hours or days to render out a scene.
Besides, Unreal Engine has a very friendly and easy to learn interface, not to
mention that Epic Games itself provides a lot of free tutorials.
Created with Unreal Engine, MetaHuman Creator, NVIDIA Omniverse Audio2Face, Replica Studios.
I hope you like it
