10 core I7 / Xeon

As you have noticed, there is the new Broadwell-E family coming soon.
I really like to build some new workstation (mainly for rendering in Max, Maya and also for UE and video editing) but I am now a bit confused what the better configuration is.
To choose the new 10 core I7, overclock and get from it the best, or to buy, let´s say Xeon E5-2683 v4 (16 core).
The thing is, that for the price around 1500$ you can buy some of the Xeons.
And you can still later upgrade to dual xeon if you buy another Xee.
So what do you guys think, what is more worth it…
Thank you.

You would be better served by waiting and comparing benchmarks.

Either way, $1500 on a processor is totally overkill for game development.

Thanks, yes I am waiting for benchmarks.
Anyway… I need some good machine not for game development but for fast builds of archviz.

Assuming you want the best of the best…
Xeon E5-2683 v4 + nVidia Quadro 6000 12GB ~ $4000
OR
10 core i7 + nVidia Geforce GTX 1080 ~ $2000

Depending on your specific needs for Arch-Viz, you may find yourself better off building two more specialised machines than one overkill generic one.

Yes I need some good comparison between these two guys.
But the new GTX´s 1080 wouldn’t be so expensive… it´s around 850-900$ max.

Right now you can get used Xeon E5-2670 for ~100$ on ebay. Could be worth a look for some people.
