0xc0000142 UE5 Error

Hello, today i installed an Unreal Engine 5 and when i tried to start it: i just got an UnrealEditor.exe 0xc0000142 error. I checked my PC and it have to match the parameters to launch UE5. My new drivers are recently installed and i have no any AntiVirus. I really would be glad if you would help me to solve this problem.

Windows 10
CPU: AMD Phenom II 6X 1035T
GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 650
Memory: 8GB Ram
Motherboard: FOXCONN 2AA9 (ITE IT8721F)

I tried to contact with “Epic Games” team and they recommended to contact with UE5 support, but i can’t find any button that must send me to the other web page with this UE5 support.
(Also, sorry for my bad english).

Hi,

You may meet the minimum spec for UE5 but this is very outdated hardware and you are going to have a tough time doing almost anything in the Editor. The minimum specs are there to show the absolute minimum of what hardware you can use to start the editor. Passing these specs does not guarantee smooth sailing. If you cannot/wish not to upgrade your hardware, and still wish to continue, I recommend trying these steps to see if this helps.

Install Visual C++ Redistributables:
https://aka.ms/vs/17/release/vc_redist.x64.exe

Install DirectX:

Sorry to say that you are trying to run a cutting edge engine on a 14 year old processor…it is bound to have issues due to this reason alone.

If this is all you can afford, maybe try UE4 instead…you will probably have better luck with a lot less issues until you can update your system.

your card has 1Gb of video ram so it is impossible to run unreal 5 with this card.

try downloading UE4. You can learn game development with this version and then you can decide to invest in better hardware if you really like this topic.

Try various UE4 older versions if the latest version don’t work. You can install older version from the launcher
