Full changelog:
This time around the weaponry has had a major overhaul, weapons now feel a lot heavier and more impactful, bullets leave a lot more of an impact, and bombs have proper visual effects with debris, shockwaves and all.
Full changelog:
Gameplay changes:
- The item droprate has been lowered to better suit the new item drop spread per wave system.
- The grenade has a slightly increased base explosion size.
Visual updates:
- The weapons and explosions have been updated to feel more impactful, by a lot.
- The weapon has a mild camera shake now, but this can be turned off in the options.
- The camera movement has been smoothed a small amount.
- One of the post process effects the game used to smudge and ease up on hard edges would not work in DX12 mode, and thus had to be removed.
Sadly this introduces a lot of jaggies and the game looks a lot “harsher” now, an alternative is something I’ll keep an eye out for, on the bright side, this should improve framerate by about 5-10%.- Several environmental assets have been finished and cleaned up.
- The vendor has received some love and has had a visual pass.
- More barrels!
- Bombling now moves with physics.
- Bombling is now animated to visually show bomb regen.
Content:
- A regenerating shield item has been added.
Performance:
- While the game already is quite low-poly, nanite has been implemented for most assets and should improve performance if your GPU is your bottleneck.
Other additions and changes:
- 4:3 resolutions are now supported by the UI
- 1680×1050 (HDTV) support added.
- Some people experienced issues with the installer, the game now uses a different installer setup, please let me know if it works better now!
Bugfixes:
- The spikes were able to harm enemies multiple times in one dash, this was not the intention and has been fixed.
- The game would check for armor twice on hit, this has been fixed.
- On rare occasions, explosions could hit multiple times, this has been filtered out.
- The selection marker for items in the shop no longer shows up while the player is not shopping.
- For some reason changing the feedback and bug report buttons around didn’t stick. It has been fixed again.
- The engine noise wasn’t affected by the volume sliders, this has been fixed.
- Volume settings wouldn’t be in effect after loading a new area or restarting the game, this has been fixed.
Feedback:
- A popup now lets the player know when a new item has been unlocked.
Gameplay up dates:
- Bombling and shield now have to be unlocked.
- A bunch of new assets to spruce up the environment has been added.
- The arena has a new overhaul, and has a new environmental hazard to take into account.
Audio:
- A new music track for combat has been added.
Performance:
- Lighting and shadows have been tweaked and should improve FPS by roughly 20-30%.
- An option to disable Lumen has been added, this option gives the game’s lighting a vastly different look, but could improve your perfomance by 100-300% depending on your system.
Fixes:
- The game no longer crashes the first time a save is made.
- The UX for shields now updates properly with resolution changes and no longer disappears when entering and exiting menus at unexpected times.
- The shield now properly follows the player when freefalling.
- Secret scrap pickups no longer get tallied for the item tracker.
- A bug where the player would respawn slightly lower than the original position, causing them to not be able to shoot over fences and have a slightly harder time to hit enemies, has been fixed.
- You no longer have to restart the game to make use of unlocks.
- A bug where a wave could start in the new game if you used the restart button has been fixed.
