I’ve been trying to make some root motion animations for my AI climbing over obstacles. I’m having constant issues with animations that look absolutely fine in sequencer and in the asset viewer but when I play them in game as a montage they just look rubbish and obviously have some wrong/missing data.
Here’s an example. This video is the animation asset with root motion on loop and reset.
Which is how it is supposed to look and how it looks in sequencer. However, I then create a montage with this animation and play it on a simple character actor in my level to test it out and this happens:
As you see in the video the character seems to dip down as they climb onto the wall (which doesn’t happen in the asset) and then during the forward roll the character’s feet and legs are not retaining the positions that they have in the animation sequence.
I don’t understand what’s happening here so any help would be appreciated.
